Apple iPhone 7 Lightning-Ready EarPods Leaked Image

Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 7 is set to release in September this year and the one longstanding debate about the changes coming to the flagship iPhone is whether the 3.5mm headphone jack would be included or not. Now, latest images of Lightning-powered EarPods, which are set to be shipped with the iPhone 7, have been spotted on Chinese blogging site, Weibo.

The headphones spotted in the images closely resemble the EarPods shipped with last year’s flagship iPhone 6S, with the change in port from 3.5mm to Lightning. Although the authenticity of the accessory is probably questionable, Weibo is known to be the first destination of any Apple-related leaks and rumors. Every major news website is overstocked with the rumors of the exclusion of the headphone jack. The lightning-powered headphones fall in line clearly with the perspective of minor changes to this year’s iPhone, and the images are also one of the first ones of the iPhone 7 EarPods.

These images come out of Chinese social media site Weibo (via, and show the Lightning connector at the end of the EarPods. The connector appears to be a little larger than normal, and it could be to resolve user complaints about it being too easy to damage. In any case, these images could just very well be doctored, so we recommend you to take the leak with a pinch of salt.

If all goes as tradition, the iPhone 7 will be released in the beginning of September. It is expected to come in three variants - iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone 7 Pro. The large variant is expected to come with a dual camera setup, a Smart Connector at the back, and a 3GB RAM bump. There is also a pegged new A10 processor, with a reimagined Force Touch Home Button.
